School Dance Programs in Ballroom, Salsa/Latin, Jive/Swing, danceTONE Fitness & More
ABOUT OUR SCHOOL BALLROOM & LATIN DANCE PROGRAMS
danceScape offers a number of fun partner and fitness-based dance programs that can be conducted at your school, or at our facility in dowtown Burlington. These include dances from our Absolute Beginners Ballroom, Latin, Swing and danceTONE programs in the Burlington, Halton, Oakville, Hamilton, Grimsby, Ancaster, Dundas, and Milton areas.
danceScape school programs can be delivered as:
- up to 60 minute session focusing on a particular dance;
- multiple sessions in the morning and/or afternoon covering different dances; or
- a 10-week program covering all dances.
“For Absolute Beginners” Club Latin or Swing Dancing
This program is designed to provide students with a fun, upbeat dance experience with music and physical activity drawn from the younger social “club” dance scene. Depending on the number of sessions selected, dances may include Merengue, Swing, and Salsa.
“For Absolute Beginners” Ballroom Dancing
This program is designed to provide students with fun physical activity and social etiquette skills drawn from the world of competitive Latin and Ballroom dancing as seen on “So You Think You Can Dance” and “Dancing With the Stars”. Depending on the number of sessions selected, dances may include the Social Foxtrot, Tango, Waltz, Rumba, Cha Cha, and Jive.
danceTONE is a lower impact dance-based fitness program that begins with a light warm-up, followed by a fusion of easy-to-learn Cha Cha, Rumba, Samba, Jive/Swing and other Ballroom Latin dance steps. It’s a great fit for single-gender classes as it gives the dance experience without the partnership component. It’s so much fun, they’ll forget that they’re sweating!
Level 1 (Ballroom/Latin, Club Salsa, and Swing)
Whereas the “For Absolute Beginners” programs provide an introductory “buffet” of many dance styles, Level 1 programs focus on fewer styles but more step patterns and technique tips. Ideal for returning or advanced students, as well as those interested in competitive dancing!
Classes are held at your school location; however, it is also possible to hold classes at our facility in downtown Burlington, depending on space and instructor availability.
As a dance workshop, any of our programs satisfy the “dance” requirement of the physical education curriculum. Teachers have the option of choosing their degree of involvement in the lesson; they may either assist in managing the class or enjoy the learning experience alongside their students.

danceScape organizes a fun Practice Party outings several times a year, sometimes at its facility in downtown Burlington or through our network of partners. This provides the opportunity to practice dancing in a social dance setting and to continue to help students develop the confidence to dance in public. Students can enjoy refreshments, spot prizes, fun demonstrations, and social dance mixers.
Each June, danceScape partners with the Sound of Music Festival’s “Downtown StreetFest” (intersection of Brant and Elgin Street Performance Pod) for a weekend of free lessons and performances.
