Three more athletes on Dancing With the Stars
On Monday, Dancing With the Stars announced the celebrities who will be competing this season for the coveted Mirrorball Trophy.
Fresh off her gold medal win in beach volleyball, Misty May-Treanor will be partnered with Maksim Chmerkovskiy; Maurice Greene, who won two gold medals at the Sydney Olympic Games will work with two-time Dancing champion Cheryl Burke; and Super Bowl Champion Warren Sapp (who played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Oakland Raiders) will team up with Kym Johnson.
Sports stars on the show tend to either go all the way or burn out fast. One factor that may hamper the athletes’ chances this time around is that sports figures have won the past three competitions (Kristi Yamaguchi, pictured above, Helio Castroneves and Apollo Anton Ohno). Overall, athletes have won in four of the show's six seasons.
The sports stars do, however, have an advantage, in that they are all partnered with DWTS veteran dancers, all of whom have either won the show or placed second.
Here is a look at the celebrities from the sports world who have competed in the six-season history of Dancing with the Stars and how they did:
