Join us as we celebrate the Big Band Music of the Brant Inn. This year will be bigger and better than ever, with our outdoor dance floor - 2200 square feet.
This year, we return to the "Compass" at Spencer Smith Park, with its unparalleled view of Lake Ontario. Open dancing, performances, teaching segments, and interactive dance games will be set to the music of the Brant Inn.
Your hosts are danceScape Founder Beverley Cayton-Tang and CH Television Entertainment Reporter Alex Reynolds. For four years, Mr. Reynolds hosted the weekly remote broadcasts from Burlington's Brant Inn - carried coast to coast on the CBC radio network. The famous nightspot was a stopover for all the major entertainment figures touring North America during the 1950s and '60s. During that time Alex worked with such greats as Stan Kenton, Count Basie, Guy Lombardo, Tommy Dorsey and Duke Ellington.
In addition to dancing, there will be historical information on and memorabilia from the Brant Inn, provided by the Burlington Historical Society. Copies of Stuart Brown's book Brant Inn Memories and Meet Me at the Brant Inn, the DVD of the WNED-broadcast documentary, will also be on sale.
